1. Acceptance of Terms

By visiting adneutral.com, downloading, installing, or using the AdNeutral browser extension, or subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"), our Privacy Policy, and any additional guidelines posted on the website.

If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, do not use the service. If you are using AdNeutral on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

You must be at least 13 years old (16 in the EU) to use AdNeutral. By using the service, you confirm you meet this age requirement.

2. Description of Service

AdNeutral provides:

  • A browser extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox that identifies and blocks advertisements, sponsored content, upsell prompts, and tracking pixels within AI chat platforms including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Poe, Character.ai, Meta AI, and You.com.
  • A website at adneutral.com providing documentation, a blog, product information, and a subscription management portal for paid plans.
  • Filter rules updates served via our public API at adneutral.com/api/rules.php, kept current with the evolving ad formats used by AI platforms.

We reserve the right to modify, add, or remove features from the service at any time with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant changes in advance via our changelog page and newsletter.

3. Accounts and Registration

The Free tier of the AdNeutral extension does not require an account. You can install and use core ad-blocking functionality without providing any personal information.

A paid account is required for Pro and Team features. When creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Notify us immediately at hello@adneutral.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account

You may not share your account credentials with others. Each Team plan seat is intended for a single named user.

4. Free Plan

The Free plan is provided at no cost and includes:

  • Core ad blocking across the listed AI platforms (current coverage on our features page)
  • Chrome and Firefox extension
  • Up to 3 custom blocking rules
  • Filter rule updates via our public API

The Free plan is supported by display advertising shown on this website's blog articles. By using the Free plan, you acknowledge that our website may display advertisements. The extension itself never inserts ads and does not monetise your browsing.

We reserve the right to change what is included in the Free plan, including limiting or removing features with reasonable advance notice. Core ad-blocking functionality is intended to remain free indefinitely, but we cannot make a legally binding commitment to this.

5. Pro and Team Plans

5.1 Pro Plan ($2.99/month per user)

The Pro plan includes all Free features plus:

  • Safari browser support
  • Cross-device sync via browser account
  • Unlimited custom blocking rules
  • Advanced blocking statistics
  • Early access to new platform coverage
  • Priority email support

5.2 Team Plan ($5.99/seat/month)

The Team plan includes all Pro features plus:

  • Centralised admin panel for managing team member seats
  • Shared custom rule sets across the organisation
  • Usage analytics per team member
  • Dedicated support with guaranteed 24-hour response time
  • Invoicing available on request for teams of 10+ seats

5.3 Plan Changes

You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time from your account settings. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial-month refunds are issued on downgrade unless stated otherwise.

6. Billing and Payments

Paid plans are billed on a monthly recurring basis. By providing a payment method, you authorise AdNeutral (via our payment processor, PayPal) to charge the applicable fees automatically each month.

  • Currency: All prices are in US dollars (USD) unless a localised price is shown
  • Taxes: Prices shown are exclusive of applicable sales tax, VAT, or GST, which may be added at checkout based on your location
  • Failed payments: If a payment fails, we will retry the charge up to 3 times over 7 days. If all retries fail, your account will be downgraded to the Free tier
  • Price changes: We will give at least 30 days' notice before increasing prices for existing subscribers. You may cancel before the new price takes effect

Payment is processed by PayPal, Inc. We do not store your full payment details. PayPal's terms of service and privacy policy apply to payment processing.

7. Refunds and Cancellation

7.1 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time. To cancel:

  1. Log in to your AdNeutral account
  2. Go to Settings → Subscription
  3. Click "Cancel subscription"
  4. Confirm cancellation

Your paid access continues until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged again after cancellation.

7.2 Refunds

We offer refunds in the following circumstances:

  • First-time subscriber - 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are unsatisfied within 14 days of your first paid subscription, email hello@adneutral.com for a full refund, no questions asked.
  • Service unavailability. If our service is unavailable for more than 24 consecutive hours in a given month, you may request a prorated refund for that period.
  • Duplicate charges. If you are charged twice for the same period due to a billing error, we will refund the duplicate charge immediately.

Refunds are not provided for:

  • Unused portions of a billing period after the 14-day guarantee window
  • Accounts terminated for violation of the Acceptable Use Policy
  • Dissatisfaction with a feature that was accurately described prior to purchase

To request a refund, email hello@adneutral.com with the subject "Refund Request". We will process eligible refunds within 5–10 business days to the original payment method.

8. Acceptable Use Policy

AdNeutral is designed for personal and professional use to protect individuals from unwanted advertising within AI platforms. You agree NOT to use AdNeutral to:

8.1 Prohibited Activities

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the extension for the purpose of creating a competing commercial product
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to paid AdNeutral features without our written permission
  • Use AdNeutral to facilitate illegal activity or to violate the terms of service of any AI platform
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, scrape our website, or overload our servers with automated requests
  • Submit false, misleading, or abusive content through any feedback, support, or bug reporting channel
  • Impersonate AdNeutral, its team members, or create misleading derivative works using our branding
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable law, including export control laws and data protection regulations

8.2 Permitted Uses

  • Personal use on your own devices for blocking AI platform advertisements
  • Professional use within an organisation (under a Team plan)
  • Educational or research use, including studying the extension's source code under the MIT licence
  • Sharing the extension with others by linking to the official Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons listing
  • Writing about, reviewing, or creating tutorials about AdNeutral

8.3 Filter Rules API Fair Use

The filter rules API at /api/rules.php is rate-limited to 60 requests per minute per IP address. Automated clients must include a descriptive User-Agent string. We reserve the right to block IP addresses that exceed reasonable API usage, including commercial scrapers.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Intellectual Property

The AdNeutral name, logo, website design, marketing copy, blog articles, and visual identity are the intellectual property of AdNeutral and are protected by copyright law. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from our marketing materials or website content without written permission.

9.2 Content Licence for Blog Articles

Blog articles published on adneutral.com may be quoted (up to 150 words) with clear attribution and a link back to the original article. Full reproduction requires written permission from press@adneutral.com.

9.3 Feedback and Suggestions

If you submit bug reports, feature suggestions, or other feedback ("Feedback"), you grant AdNeutral a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use that Feedback to improve the service. You retain ownership of your Feedback but waive any right to compensation for its use. We will not attribute Feedback publicly without your permission.

10. Open Source Components

The AdNeutral browser extension is released under the MIT Licence. The source code is available at .

The MIT licence permits you to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the extension code, subject to including the original copyright notice and licence text.

The following components are explicitly excluded from the MIT licence and remain proprietary:

  • The AdNeutral brand name, logo, and visual identity
  • The adneutral.com website codebase (the website is not the extension)
  • Our proprietary filter rule intelligence and pattern-detection algorithms (separate from the standard filter list format)
  • Our subscriber and customer data

Third-party open source components used within AdNeutral retain their original licences. A full list is available in the LICENSES file in the repository.

11. Third-Party Services

AdNeutral integrates with third-party services including Google Analytics, Google AdSense, PayPal, and Cloudflare. Your use of these integrated services is also subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for the practices, content, or availability of third-party services. Links from adneutral.com to external websites are provided for convenience; we do not endorse the content of linked sites.

The AdNeutral extension blocks advertisements served by third parties, including Google Ads, on AI platforms. This is the extension's intended function. We do not have a commercial relationship with the AI platforms whose advertising is blocked, and our blocking is based solely on user preference and privacy protection.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

Important: This section limits our legal liability. Please read it carefully.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY
  • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
  • NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF CONTENT
  • UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION

We do not warrant that:

  • The extension will block every advertisement on every AI platform at all times. AI platforms frequently change their ad formats to circumvent blockers, and there may be periods of incomplete coverage while we update our filter rules.
  • The service will be available 100% of the time. We aim for 99.5% monthly uptime but make no binding guarantee.
  • The extension is compatible with every version of Chrome or Firefox. We support the two most recent major versions of each browser.

Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of implied warranties. In such cases, the above exclusions apply to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ADNEUTRAL AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
  • LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES
  • DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE
  • ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF THIRD PARTIES ON AI PLATFORMS
  • UNAUTHORISED ACCESS TO OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR DATA

IN ALL CASES, OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF:

  • THE TOTAL AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO ADNEUTRAL IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR
  • FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50)

These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise) and even if AdNeutral has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

14. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless AdNeutral and its operators from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of or access to the service in violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
  • Any claim that your use of the service caused damage to a third party
  • Your violation of any applicable law or regulation

15. Termination

15.1 Termination by You

You may stop using AdNeutral at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling your subscription (if applicable). Uninstalling the extension does not automatically cancel a paid subscription - you must cancel via your account settings.

15.2 Termination by AdNeutral

We may suspend or terminate your access to the service, with or without notice, if we have reason to believe you have:

  • Materially breached these Terms
  • Engaged in conduct that creates legal or reputational risk for AdNeutral
  • Provided false information during registration or payment
  • Not paid fees owed under a paid plan after multiple collection attempts

For serious violations (e.g., attempted attacks on our infrastructure), we may terminate accounts immediately without notice. For minor violations, we will typically give 7 days' notice and an opportunity to remedy the breach.

15.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use paid features immediately ceases. You may still use the Free extension as an unregistered user. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will do so, including sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. For users in the European Union, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence apply in addition to these Terms.

Before initiating any formal legal proceedings, you agree to contact us at legal@adneutral.com and give us 30 days to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

16.1 Dispute Resolution for EU Consumers

If you are an EU consumer, you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr to resolve disputes.

16.2 Binding Arbitration (for US Users)

For users located in the United States: any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be settled by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its consumer arbitration rules. The arbitration will be conducted in English. You and AdNeutral each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action lawsuit.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes to our service, new features, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
  • Post a notice on our homepage for 30 days
  • Email registered users if changes materially affect their rights

Your continued use of the service after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the service and cancel your subscription before the effective date.

Past versions of these Terms are available on request by emailing legal@adneutral.com.
